To further discussion of
the theology of peace Methodists United for Peace with Justice in September 2006 sponsored a National Conference on “Building a Wesleyan Theology of Peace for the 21st Century” in San Francisco. It was held at and co-sponsored by Temple
United Methodist Church whose pastor Rev. Schuyler Rhodes first proposed having such a conference.
The purpose of the conference was to bring together church leaders, seminarians, peace practitioners, local clergy, and lay people to sit
together and think prayerfully about a Wesleyan theology of peace. As a framework, the conference used the Wesleyan Quadrilateral: Scripture,
Tradition, Reason, and Experience. The 90 persons in attendance included United Methodist bishops, clergy, laity, and seminar professors.

Participants at the San Francisco conference felt that the experience was so valuable that we should meet again. Watch this page for further information.
